System Requirements (Executable)
- Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 is required to run Envelope up to version 0.9.18
- Envelope up to version 0.9.18 is a Universal Binary, and runs on both Power PC and Intel machines.
- Mac OS X 10.6 is required to run Envelope version 0.9.19 or higher
Additional System Requirements (Source Code)
- The Apple Developer Tools are required to compile Envelope. These are freely available from connect.apple.com. Envelope 0.9.18 has been verified to compile using Xcode 2.5 (10.4) and Xcode 3.0 (10.5). Envelope 0.9.19 has been verified to compile using Xcode 4.0 (10.6)
- Envelope makes use of the FFTW library, available under the terms of the GNU GPL from fftw.org. You will need to compile and install libfftw before compiling Envelope. Also note that as it is set up, the source code compiles as a Universal Binary (works on both PowerPC and Intel machines), and so libfftw also needs to be compiled to work on both PowerPC and Intel machines. Instructions for configuring libraries for use in universal binaries are here Alternatively, you may alter the project file to compile Envelope only for a single architecture.

Current Version: 0.9.20 for OS X 10.6+
Archived Version for OS X 10.4 and 10.5: 0.9.18
Version History
- October 10th, 2011 - 0.9.20
- Added the ability to calculate RNA spectra in positive ion mode (the previous versions only allowed for negative ion mode).
- May 17th, 2011 - 0.9.19
- Added the ability to calculate spectra for an arbitrary molecular formula (as opposed to protein or RNA residues). This requires the user to explicitly track the charge state and number of hydrogens and include these appropriately (hydrogens are automatically added/subtracted for protein/RNA depending on the charge specified).
- Envelope now requires OS X 10.6
- April 14th, 2010 - 0.9.18
- Added new style for data points
- Amplitude now properly updates under "Live" conditions when using keyboard input
- Cleaned up some memory leaks (thanks to David Stranz)
